❄️ Join or start a subcommunity
WoCl has a variety of subcommunities that help people in different roles, sectors of climate, or locations find climate work.
Subcommunities focused on a sector of climate are called Learning Groups , and we have a number of them, such as the 🌊 Ocean Sequestration Learning Group, 👩🌾 Regenerative Agriculture Learning Group, 🌏 Climate Justice Learning Group, and others.
💡 This month CTAN is running another round of their peer mentorship program in Work On Climate, focused on climate agri-tech!
Do you run a subcommunity in WoCl, or want to start one? The WoCl Subcommunity Ecosystem is here to support you - please fill in this form and we’ll reach out!
🚀 Climate expert office hours
Get advice on entering the climate space from friendly climate experts at our Office Hours - simply book time on their Calendly. Our experts have helped 470+ people over the past year and are fantastic at helping with both introductory and sophisticated climate topics.
Wondering what happens during expert office hours? Here are some of the posts that attendees made on #share-your-path:
Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with Patrick Sheehan. I'm currently job searching in the climate tech/data science space and Patrick shared a ton of wisdom ... he spoke to us about the challenges and opportunities within energy storage, which I'm excited to dig into further on my own time. Thank you Patrick for being a great help!
I'm currently working as a manager at a restaurant startup but felt called to help combat climate change ... Troy Hodges showed me his path to data science and was honest on how I could approach this career path. I learned that I should take time to understand what I would like to do in climate change and be excited to message others in the fields that interest me.
🏢 Get a climate job
We have 300,000 job openings today and we expect that to rise to a million and more. (Germany’s climate protection minister on jobs in the energy transition, source: The Guardian)
In addition to WoCl’s job channels (#jobs, #jobs-alerts, #gigs), find some lists-of-lists of companies and job boards on this #learn-the-space thread by @Eric Li!
Climate work is for everyone. The #jobs channel has seen 140+ new jobs this month, in a wide array of roles, such as different kinds of engineering, bizdev, recruiting, research, marketing, sales, and many others.
The jobs also span many sectors of climate: from energy and transportation, to alternative materials, carbon accounting, and nature-based solutions. Most of them allow remote work!
🏆 Share your success: We keep hearing stories of people who found a climate job through WoCl - hop on #i-got-a-job to share your story and inspire others, or ask others how they did it!

🚸 Featured Community Project
Our friends at Diamond List are back in action! If you missed the fun last year, Diamond List is an annual roundup of “hidden gem” climate startups built on nominations from top-tier climate investors. The all-volunteer team behind Diamond List are WoCl members, including its founder Cass, board chair Jeremy, Office Hours Expert Olya, and active member Zeina. They’re still approving nominators for this round - and they’re looking in particular for nominators outside the US. So if you’re a professional investor, especially outside the US, apply here to nominate companies (deadline extended through Feb 6). And look out for the big reveal in March!
